Janet Parks Delivers Keynote at Construction History Society Meeting

Janet Parks, Avery's Curator of Drawings and Archives will deliver the keynote address at the 3rd biennial meeting of the Construction History Society of America, November 2-3, 2012. The meeting is being held in Boston concurrent with the “Palaces for the People: Guastavino and America’s Great Public Spaces” exhibit curated by John Ochsendorf and on view at the Boston Public Library through February 24,2013. The exhibit will travel to the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, March 16, 2013, and run through September 2, 2013.

Janet's keynote topic, "Guastavino and Gilbert" will call upon the rich archival resources at Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library as well as the Cass Gilbert collection at the New York Historical Society, to render a picture of the relationship between the two master architects' approaches to public spaces during the turn of the 19th to 20th century 'American Renaissance.'
