Five things you need to know about doing research in Watson Library

Welcome new and returning students!

1. Your Columbia University ID Card is your library card!
Have your card on you at all times. You need it to enter the library, check out materials, and use the copy machines.

2. Librarians are available to help you with your research in person, on the phone, via email or on IM!

3. The Watson Library’s website is a great place to start your research.  Avail yourself of our research guides organized by subject or browse our extensive collection of databases.

4. The Library’s 24/7 Help database contains frequently asked questions collected from students.  Another great starting point!

5. CLIO is the online catalog of Columbia.  CLIO has all of the Columbia Libraries’ holdings for all materials both print and electronic.
