New database: FactSet

FactSet provides analytic tools and financial and economics data on public and private companies and their debt issues, private equity and venture capital firms and funds, macroeconomic series, global M&A deals, ownership details, and people data.

Access to FactSet is restricted to current Columbia faculty, students, and staff. FactSet is also available on six data workstations along the service area in Watson library.

New database: ChinaScope Financial

chinascope financialChinaScope Financial offers China-focused company, sector and macro-economic data as well as the latest media reports and market developments.

The database provides [from publisher website]:

  • Company Data – comprehensive fiscal, financial and operating data series as reported by companies and industry sources.
  • Sector Data – industry-specific indicators and statistics outlining over 40 sectors,
  • MacroEconomic Data – historical and forecast Chinese economic indicators for all provinces, regions and the country as a whole, with time series as far back as the 1970s.
  • Daily News – updates of key company and market developments compiled from hundreds of major global, regional and local Chinese media. All stories are translated and presented in English and can be crossed-referenced with relevant datasets on the platform.

SeeThroughNY – Salary Information for New York City and State Employees

seethroughnyThe Empire Center for New York State Policy now provides a database tool through the SeeThroughNY network where you can look up salary information for New York City Government, State Government, New York’s county, city, town and village governments, and state and regional Public Authority payrolls.

Click on SeeThroughNY to use the tool; database is searchable by name Title, Branch or Entity, Agency and Subagency. Data can also be exported to Excel.

New database: Life Science Analytics Report Center

Life Science Analytics Report Center via “Datamonitor 360” provides comprehensive pipeline and financial information on over 2,500 pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and biomedical companies worldwide, including accurate  market data and authoritative analysis and information.

After log into the Datamonitor 360 platform, please click on or mouse over the “Databases” link under “choose an entry point” to access Life Science Analytics Report Center (LSA Report Center) database.

New database: Dow Jones LP Source Basic

lpsourcebasicThe Watson Library of Business and Economics is pleased to announce that we now have access to Dow Jones LP Source Basic. This database is accessible on workstation 7 [buspc07] near the circulation area in the Business Library.

According to Dow Jones, LP Source Basic is “a dynamic database of thousands of LPs, GPs and fund investments plus business intelligence tools, including:

  • Quickly search limited partners, investment firms, advisors, and placement agents by assets under management, preferred commitment size, fund size, and other criteria
  • View profiles for limited partners, investment firms, advisors, and placement agents
  • Locate industry contacts and build your network
  • Create and download custom reports”

Note: This database replaces Directory of Alternative Investment Programs (AIP) and Galante’s Venture Capital and Private Equity Directory.
