Ethan Gruber will discuss the development of xEAC (https://github.com/ewg118/xEAC), an open source framework for creating, maintaining, and publishing collections of EAC-CPF records using XForms, a W3C standard for editing XML in next-generation web forms.

Connexion Client upgrade 2.50

Connexion Client will be upgraded by LITO on cataloger terminals in the coming days. This is a required upgrade.

Version 2.50 includes the following enhancements which will be detailed in a forthcoming recording:

  • Armenian, Ethiopic and Syriac scripts are now supported.
  • New RDA authority workforms for Family and Name Title have been implemented.
  • New authority indexes Cataloging Source, Descriptive Conventions, Keyword, and Notes available for searching via the Keyword/Numeric Search drop down lists; these were previously only available via command line searching.
  • GenerateAuthorityRecord macro updated to fully recognize the 264 field.
  • GenerateERecord macro updated to better handle Unicode characters.
  • Help, Useful Web Links list updated to link to OCLC-MARC Records documentation.

New Headings for Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai Announced

The following message was posted to the listserves by Kate James:

In response to recent inquiries on the PCC Listserv, the Policy and Standards Division (PSD) of the Library of Congress has updated the name authority records for Bombay (India) (n  79065461), Calcutta (India) (n  80049617), and Madras (India) (n  79107973) and created new name authority records for Mumbai (India) (n 2012073713), Kolkata (India) (n 2012073732), and Chennai (India (n 2012073827).  These headings have been connected as earlier/late name headings.
PSD will initiate a special project to revise associated headings for corporate bodies, subject headings and classification captions.  Please create new headings and/or update existing headings related to these cities only as needed in the course of your normal cataloging work.
