Columbia Libraries Expands Access to Mobile Ebooks

Columbia University Libraries is pleased to announce a significant expansion of access to mobile ebooks on the “Palace Project” mobile app.  The Palace Project app brings together over 250,000 ebooks from our collections and makes them accessible all in one place.   Palace helps Columbia’s Libraries improve the reading experience and makes available ebooks from various publishers in one simplified interface.

Columbia University faculty, students, and staff can download “The Palace Project” from the App Store or Google Play, find “Columbia University Libraries,” log in with their UNI, and start reading ebooks.  Selections of ebooks from Springer Nature, Proquest Ebook Central and others are available now, and more will be added on an ongoing basis.

The best way to see which ebooks are currently available is to download the Palace Project app and add Columbia University Libraries. Users can also click the “Read on Palace” link for available titles in a CLIO record. For more help on using Palace, see our guide

Millions of items from our collections are already accessible online through CLIO.  With Palace, ebooks are available in a streamlined digital format, though they will also continue to remain available in other formats through publishers.

Note that our earlier SimplyE app will continue to provide access to a limited number of Columbia Libraries ebooks through December 31, 2022.   After that, while Columbia’s collections will no longer be available in SimplyE, you may continue to use SimplyE to access New York Public Library ebooks using your NYPL Library Card.
