METRO, the Metropolitan New York Library Council, recently awarded funding through their Innovative Internship program to Lehman Social Sciences Library at Columbia. The project, “Revitalizing government information collections in libraries via UX and emerging technologies,” seeks to exhibit, catalog, and archive United States government information for library resources that maintain high usability in a land of dense and rich information. User experience (UX) best practices will be applied to government information webpages and LibGuides to provide users with resources that have a modern feel, easy navigation, and up-to-date information.
Tara Das (Government Information Librarian, Columbia University) and Julie Robbins (Graduate student, Pratt Institute) will launch the project this spring.
