Intro to GIS workshop, Friday 9/27

Registration is now open for the first of two Intro to GIS workshops. The first will be held next week Friday 9/27 between 11am – 1pm in the DSSC Data Service, Lehman Library room 215.

We will offer it again on Friday 10/4 at the same time.

The workshop will give a basic overview of GIS, data models, spatial analysis, projections, finding data, and working with your own data. There are two hands-on exercises, both using ESRI ArcGIS software so everyone who attends will get a chance to use the software and explore some of what we cover in the talk.

The Intro workshop is meant for anyone who either has had no previous experience with GIS or for anyone needing a refresher.

Intro to GIS this Friday

ImageWe’re offering an Intro to GIS workshop this Friday starting at 10:30am, there’s still plenty of room left if you are interested in attending.

This is a hands-on workshop using ESRI ArcGIS software. We’ll briefly cover data sources and data models, spatial analysis, projections, and working with your own data.

The workshop is meant for anyone who hasn’t had GIS training and is interested in learning how it can be used in class projects and research.

Registration is open for the Intro to GIS workshop scheduled this Friday 9/17 starting at 10:30am.

We will repeat the workshop again on 9/24 for anyone unable to make the first one or if available spots fill up.

elevation mapWe’re starting up the GIS workshops series again, beginning with Intro to GIS  on Friday February 5th from 10:30am – 12:30pm in 215 Lehman Library (EDS). We’ll add other workshops to the calendar as we finalize the overall schedule.

The September GIS workshop schedule is now listed on the DSSC calendar starting with three Intro to GIS workshops. Registration for the first workshop opens this Thursday.

All workshop are scheduled on Friday’s from 10:30 – 12:30 and are held in EDS, located in 215 Lehman Library.
