Nancy E. Friedland, Librarian for Butler Media, Film Studies & Performing Arts was recently elected to serve on the Theatre Library Association Board for a second, non-consecutive, term.
Katie L.B. Henningson, a Library Assistant I currently working on the New York Chamber of Commerce Records, has won a fellowship with the ARL Career Enhancement Program. Katie is completing her M.L.S. at Palmer and will start the program in June at the University of Kentucky. The 12-week program gives each fellow the opportunity to work in a research library and is assigned a mentor who provides each fellow with professional guidance and resource sharing. Each fellow also participates in the ARL Leadership Institute at the ALA Midwinter meeting (which Katie just attended) giving them the opportunity to examine the larger issues facing research libraries, and interact with other ARL fellow, library leaders, and other MLS students who attend the Leadership Institute. The program also works with each fellow to network and connect with other ARL member libraries to help the job search process. Katie is an outstanding assistant and, along with the project archivist, Jillian Cuellar, has worked hard to put her professional stamp on the collection. We are lucky to have her here through April, when the project will end.
