About me: "For the last fifteen years, I’ve moved east every three years. From Wuhan, China to Hawaii to Indiana, and finally settled in NYC. Trained as an organic chemist, I find myself more interested in interacting with people than working with chemical compounds. So as a chemistry librarian, I am able to contribute my knowledge to my work in the library, and I really enjoy it."

What’s new at my library: Although the chemistry library was closed in June 2009, we are looking forward to moving the collection to the new Integrated Science Library when it opens in Fall 2010.

Personal favorite: SciFinder Scholar – A resource for chemistry related information. You can search not only bibliographic information, but also chemical structures, reactions, and property data.  What’s best about the web version is that I have personal account which allows me to save my search history and set up alerts.

Recommended resources:

  • Web of Science – Fantastic for checking cited reference, Scopus – Great interface, Reaxys—The new way to access Beilstein/Gmelin, ACS Directory of Graduate Research – the place to secretly check out how old is your professor.
