In our ongoing effort to increase services as circumstances allow, as of Monday 10/26/20 our seat reservation system is expanded to include all active faculty in addition to students. Everyone will be expected to adhere to all aspects of the Required Protocol for Returning to Campus, including reading the enhanced university health and safety policy, reading and signing the Health Compact, taking safety training, getting tested, and completing the daily symptom self-check on the ReopenCU app.
The main entrance of Kent Hall continues to remain locked. To enter the building, use the Student Services entrance from College Walk and use the stairs or elevator to come up one flight.
Library staff will be present at the front door of the library to check for full compliance and reservation confirmation. Once cleared by the library staff, be sure to swipe your ID as usual, and check in and out of your seat using the QR code at your reserved seat. Keep your face covering on at all times while in the library, do not bring food or drink into the library, and do not touch the reference collection.
The reference collection will, until further notice, be treated as part of the special collections, and a separate appointment needs to be made to use any part of it. This is for reasons of hygiene (any material used will be quarantined for a period of several days before being re-shelved). Appointments to use reference material, or any other part of the Special Collections, can be made by emailing us at starr@library.columbia.edu.
Going forward, we will continue to monitor developments to evaluate if and when it will be safe to expand our services further. If you have any questions about our library, collections, or services, do contact us at the address listed above.
