"Invisible College: THATCamp as Scholarly Society"

Tom Scheinfeldt, of the Center for History and New Media, will give a lecture on THATCamp, an open, low-cost, collaboratively planned gathering for humanists, technologists, and others interested in working together on timely projects.  Scheinfeldt will offer his take on the 40 plus THATCamps that have taken place around the world. Monica McCormick, Program Officer of Digital Scholarly Publishing at NYU, will moderate.

"The Modern History of the Oxford University Press and the Future of Academic Publishing"

Daniel Raff, Associate Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, will give a lecture on how the Oxford University Press came to be and what to expect from the future of academic publishing.

"Going Digital: Exploring the Civil War Through Digital Resources"

Brian Grubbs, of the Springfield-Greene County Library, will discuss Community & Conflict, a document and photo archive and museum on the Civil War in the Trans-Mississippi Theater. Columbia University Libraries' Eric Wakin will also discuss using special collections in material and digital form to teach American history.

"Mighty Glad to Get Out of the Wilderness: The Civil War Adventures of the Army of the Southwest"

Jeff Patrick, Librarian of the John K. and Ruth Hulston Civil War Research Library at Wilson's Creek National Battle­field and author of "Campaign for Wilson's Creek: ­The  Fight for Missouri Begins" will examine the three-month trek of Union Brigadier General Samuel Ryan Curtis and his Army through southern Missouri and northern Arkansas from various perspectives, highlighting the roles of Curtis, the Union enlisted men, the Confederates in Arkansas, and the civilians who inhabited the region.
